Here's how Bollywood celebrities reacted after actor Dev Anand died on Saturday night in London. ASHA PAREKH "He was full of life at this age, making films, living cinema all the time, which is very rare. He had his own way of acting -- you cannot have another Dev Anand." AMITABH BACHCHAN "An era has come to an end … Dev Anand leaves a void never perhaps to be filled again … his (sic) never give up belief, his joy of life.

Evergreen star Dev Anand, one of the icons of Indian cinema, died Sunday after suffering a massive cardiac arrest in London. He was 88. "His son Sunil came out of the bathroom and saw that Dev saab was not responding. He called the doctor, who said that he had a heart attack. He died at 10 in the night in London," Mohan Churiwala, Dev Anand's manager, told IANS.

Assamese writer Indira Goswami, who played a key role in peace talks with separatist group ULFA, died on Tuesday morning after prolonged illness, local media reported. She was 69. Goswami, who wrote under the pen name ‘Mamoni Raisom Goswami,’ was a recipient of the Jnanpith, India’s most prestigious literary award.

H. Gobind Khorana, who rose from poverty in rural India to become one of the world’s foremost biochemists and who shared the Nobel Prize for helping unravel how genetic information in a cell is used to make proteins vital for human life, died Nov. 9 at a rehabilitation facility in Concord, Mass. He was believed to be 89. His daughter, Julia Khorana, confirmed the death but did not know the cause. Dr. Khorana was a resident of Cambridge, Mass.

A sea of humanity paid rich tributes Monday to music legend Bhupen Hazarika as the hearse carrying his coffin took close to seven hours to traverse a distance of 30 km from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Assam's main city of Guwahati to his ancestral home in the city.

Indian ghazal king Jagjit Singh's way of celebrating his 70th year was unique - he was aiming to complete 70 concerts by the end of the year. The man who gave ghazals a new lease of life managed only 46 before breathing his last. Singh, who learnt music under Pandit Chaganlal Sharma and then Ustad Jamaal Khan, rose to fame in the 1970s and 1980s with his lilting voice and refreshing style of rendering ghazals and devotional tracks.

I came across an Oct. 6 headline on Yahoo News: "Apple's Future after Steve Job's Death." Not realizing that the iconic Jobs was no more, my first reaction was how cruel could the media get? Why talk about a man's death when he is alive? My heart sank when I finally I saw the headline "Steve Jobs Dies." The previous evening, I had been pushing my husband to swap his BlackBerry for an iPhone.
